New Price Charts and more…

Filed under: news — admin @ 12:30 pm

We’ve had some feedback on our current charts and decided to completely redesign them. The new price charts will no longer require Flash and should be easier to read. The new charts will be set to show a max of 3 months of price history when the page first loads. There are buttons you can click to change the date range from 1 month to all available data. You can also zoom in to a specific range by click and dragging in the chart. You will still be able to turn each of the price lines on and off individually as before. Also, there is also a button on the top right corner of the chart that will allow you to save the chart as a png, jpeg, pdf or svg file as seen here (they will not be interactive like it is on mypricetrack.com).

We have also added a new comment/feedback page. So let us know what you think about the changes or if there’s anything thing else that can be improved or added!

In addition to twitter, we now also have a facebook page. Be sure to like or follow us to stay informed of any updates or changes.

myPriceTrack now tracks Prime Eligible or FSSS prices

Filed under: news — admin @ 2:32 pm

Currently, the Amazon product API does not provide a simple way to determine each merchant’s shipping cost.  While myPT tracks the lowest price, the actual total cost with shipping is not accurately represented. So now myPT can now track items that are Fulfilled by Amazon. This allows Amazon Prime members to get free shipping or non-Prime members to take advantage of the FREE Super Saver Shipping (FSSS) with a $25 minimum purchase.

The price detail page and charts will show all three prices and will soon be incorporated into everyone’s personalized RSS feed. The current plan is to not add another feed type, but to incorporate it into all feeds.

Get Kindle eBook Price Histories

Filed under: news — admin @ 2:39 pm

myPriceTrack is now tracking Kindle eBooks prices.  Amazon’s API was updated to include some Kindle eBooks, but not as extensive as most of the other products – so please let us know if some of the pricing data isn’t accurate.

Also, for those using a customized RSS feed for any wish list or registries, keep an eye out for gift cards to pop up in your feed every now and then.

Now tracking over 500,000 products

Filed under: news — admin @ 10:31 am

myPriceTrack is now tracking over half a million Amazon.com products.  As we continually add to the total numbers of items tracked, we are also working on several improvements to help with your buying decisions.  There are some additional information that are now being included in your personalized RSS feed including purchase priority and lowest recorded price. We also have a new bookmarklet for when you are viewing a product on Amazon and want a quick way to get the price history of the item you are currently viewing.  Just right click and bookmark the link (or just drag it to your bookmark toolbar) [myPT].  Clicking on the bookmark while you are on Amazon.com and it will take you right to the Price History page.  If there are any additional information or stats you would like to see, please contact us through google groups or twitter @myPriceTrack.

Finally, for our RSS users as part of the 500,000 products tracked milestone, we’ll be dropping some Amazon Gift Cards in your RSS feed.  To be eligible, make sure you include the news feed in your RSS.  If you are seeing this post in your feed, you already have it included.

Welcome to myPriceTrack.com

Filed under: news — admin @ 10:33 am

mPT has finally moved to our own servers and most of the slow site issues should be resolved.  With this move, we have completely redesigned the site and added several additional features.  We have added a FAQ page to answer most of the questions we have received, or you can contact us through google groups or twitter @myPriceTrack in case anyone has more questions or additional suggestions for the site.

As for the new features, here they are:

  • Listmania Tracking – In addition to Wish Lists and Registries, mPT can also create RSS feeds from Listmania lists
  • Price Targets – Within your Wish List or Registry, mPT will scan the comments field for each item for numbers and use that as a price target.  The RSS feed will now include the difference between the target price and current price
  • Additional Price Statistics – We have added the Minimum, 1 Month Average, and Total Average prices along with the current price.  In addition, mPT will also try to search though Google Product Search results for price comparison.  But be warned as those results may include auction sites, expired sales and possibly not the exact same item.
  • Non-Flash Price History – For devices that do not have flash enabled, mPT can render the price history chart as an image.  However, the image chart will not be as detailed as the flash chart.  Flash users will have the option to toggle between the two chart types.
  • Related Items – mPT will also try to show related items for the product you are viewing.

As an example, we have created a sample wish list as an example of a mPT RSS feed. View the sample feed and the corresponding amazon wish list page.
